Positano is perched high on the cliffs overlooking the sea.  The famed “Scalinatella” of Positano is a steep staircase that climbs toward heaven – in this case, with a stop along the way at Casa Albertina.  It is indeed a climb to reach this charming house, but one that is rewarded at every turn.  Light and warmth are intense and ever-present, in the air and in the gracious welcome by the Cinque family who have owned and operated this guesthouse since the 1930’s.  All twenty rooms, reflecting a simple elegance, face the sea.  Local craftsman have individualized the rooms with their painting and cheerful Neapolitan ceramics have been used throughout the house.  In our room were shades of blue, mirroring the same blues of sea and sky that we enjoyed from our private little terrace.  The cuisine is authentically Neapolitan and casalinga, homemade and fresh, utilizing the fruits of land and sea, according to the season.   

What began as a private home offering hospitality has evolved into a hotel, a veritable oasis of hospitality that feels very much like a home.
